all 983 photos held up with PicTacs

all 983 photos held up with PicTacs

I find it amazing that the photos held using just the PicTacs. The photos were Matted and I expected only the MatTacs to be able to hold the pictures. Well, I was pleasantly surprised.

Beautiful Model Ursula

Beautiful Model Ursula
Beautiful Model Ursula

This beautiful Model, Ursula, taken also by Photographer Lorikay Stone, is being displayed on a white corkboard with a black frame. The photo is held up with PicTacs. Notice how this gives the impression of being a finished matted piece (at a fraction of the cost) with the added flexability of instant change.  Professional, beautiful, quick and easy. Don’t settle for less and be a “Pinhead”.  PicTacs…It’s clearly the smart choice.

Lorikay Stone’s last art exhibit took my breath away. She is exceptional at capturing the moods of people in a thought provoking manner. Her other work stands on the fence between Art & Photography creating tempting eye candy. As a talented “People” Photographer & Artographer, Lorikay smartly displays the proofs for her clients using PicTacs on a Framed black backround. This is the Professional way to display proofs during the decision making process and  before the expense of matting or framing. A white backround board is also effective as I will show you in the next post. View Lorikays Website at www.LorikayPhotography.com

Lee Johnson

My favorite Pet portrait artist

My favorite Pet portrait artist

Bill & Lee Johnson, owners of the Lee Johnson Gallery, are retiring after 17 years in retail art sales. Their gallery was one of my favorite shops to visit on Main street in beautiful Clayton Ga. near one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, Lake Burton. Their shop was a fun “go to” place for a simple tourist like me. I understand their desire to go golfing, and play instead of work in their gallery all day, but I will miss their place. Lee, who has a considerable following, will continue to do her art from home which is also a fun place with a beautiful view. If you would like to see more of Lee’s artwork and her show schedule check out her website at www.leejohnsonart.com

I experience the added joy knowing that Lee, famous for her pet portraits and other artistic talents, use PicTacs to hold up the photos of the pets she paints. She was one of my first patrons. With her contagious smile, she told me PicTacs show off the photos for her pet portraits very professionally and that she loves them. Lee, Thanks for your enthusiasm for PicTacs and your encouragement for me to bring them to others for their enjoyment too.

The Picture Tac Family

Posted by scrapboarding on May 13, 2008

The Picture Tac family consists of several fun tacs to use.  The original PicTacs not only have a clear plate they also have clear Tack heads on them. The purpose is to blend in with the backround while being easy to use.  The original PicTacs are also fun to dress up with stickers, puffy paint, and permanent markers ( see bottom right of the corkboard)

The Party Tacs already come in fun shapes. They just seem to make your picture smile.

Sling Tacs add a new dimension to your cork board experience by allowing you to easily hang your 3D objects. Wonderful for the tactile sensitive, and a great tool  for creating vision boards and scrapboards for the visually impaired.

And Let’s not forget our Mat Tacs. They allow us to display thicker pieces, such as Scrapbooking pages ( before they are hidden in books) and matted pictures, to our corkboards and walls. This gives us the freedom to display our mounted pictures with ease.

The best part about the Picture Tac Family is that they leave your art work free from destructive holes and adhesives.

look no holes

Posted by scrapboarding on April 23, 2008

All these pictures and the doll were put up without permanent holes in the pics or the doll. What a fun and spontaneous thing to do without any consequences. Perfect for the teen or college kid who can be emotionally attached to a picture or thing one minute, and the next minute they want a change.

IKEA Noticeboard – $4.99

Posted by scrapboarding on April 2, 2008

I was in IKEA looking at shelves and to my surprise I saw a bulletin board, and it costs less than $5.00.

The IKEA Noticeboard (19.75″ X 25.25″)
This is a very basic pine-framed cork board, but I thought it would be perfect for customizing.
Have any ideas on dressing up this low-cost board? Post them here.

You Know You Love Scrapboarding When…

Posted by scrapboarding on April 1, 2008

board-2_fbu.jpg
  • You don’t hide your creations in a book. You enjoy your things in plain site.
  • You really know what hanging out means.
  • You’re always running out of thumbtacks or Picture tacks.
  • You buy a picture just to keep the frame.
  • Jewelry becomes an accent for your Scrapboard (and not the other way around).
  • You change your Board accessories as much as you change your clothes.
  • The word “Boardom” takes on a new meaning.
  • Your communication board is your family’s board central.
  • A meeting in your “Boardroom” is more of a what’s what than a who’s who.
  • Boarding up your house is not in response to a storm.
  • You are more fascinated by a new design in bulletin boards than…

Tell us: What would you put after the dots? You are more fascinated by a new design in bulletin boards than …

Post your response below.

Beautiful Boards – Decorating frames and adding fabric to your corkboard

Posted by scrapboarding on March 31, 2008

In my ongoing search for board framing ideas, I came across two great articles on AssociatedContent.com on decorating plain bulletin boards.

In Funky Fun: How to Jazz Up a Cork Bulletin Board, C. Jeanne Heida details a great idea for decorating a plain bulletin board with “funky junk,” all those little cute items that you keep around and can’t quite figure out how to use.  If you love glue guns, this is a great and inexpensive idea.

In How to Make a Fabric-Covered Cork Board: A New Look for Your Plain Cork Board, Emma S. tells you how to cover a plain board with fabric and how to make a fabric covered board from scratch.  She suggests that you cover the frame with fabric–so there’s another frame decorating idea, too.

You see, I knew that I needed to get more than one of those IKEA boards!
